 2010 Spring Classes


Painting in All Mediums / Including Theorem Painting

 Learn to paint in an atmosphere of fun, exploration and discovery.  Simple lessions introduce you to color theory and basic techniques.  Working from photographs or still-lifes, everyone will complete several paintings.  Individual guidance through all stages of painting will be provided from composition, value, color and most importantly the development of your own style.  Materials list will be available upon registration.

Instructor:  Melody Best

Melody is an award-winning botanical artist who has exhibited nationally.  Her work is in many corporate and private collections.  She taught botanical drawing and painting workshops throughout the U.S. and abroad.  Melody's approach to her classes is one of exploration and discovery in a fun atmosphere.

Drawing  and Painting / Anyone Can Learn To Draw...Especially Florals

An exciting new visual experience is promised for both beginning and experienced artist.  The goal is to enable one to draw any subject matter by learning line and tonal values, perspective, design and composition while drawing flowers.  Demonstrations and individual drawing exercises will be done in class.  Please bring to the first class:  A Sketchbook (Strathmore 400 series), a 2H, HB and 2B graphite pencil, a pencil sharpner, a pink pearl eraser, and a kneaded eraser.  (Note:  Supplies can be acquired before class at Building Blocks Art Supplies & Gallery.  A 10% discount is afforded to all students.)

Oil, Acrylic and Water Media Painting

This class is designed to encourage the student to develop his/her own style and conceptual approach to painting.  While traditional basic painting techniques are reviewed and demonstrated, individual style is encouraged in a relaxed supportive atmosphere.  Students of all skill levels are welcomed.  Materials list will be provided at time of registration.

Dates:  Friday's, January 8, 2010 - March 12, 2010  (10 wks)

               Note: Drop in's are welcome during sessions.

Time:  9:30am - 12:30pm

Fee:  $250  (2 make-up classes offered)

A "drop in" fee of $35 per class will be charged for those wishing to "sample" the painting experience.  Drop in fee will be applied to the price of the 10 week session if you choose to join the class.

Instructor:  Bobbie Mullen

Bobbie has been involved with the arts from a very young age.  A recognized New England Artist, she has been the recipient of many awards and has exhibited extensively in juried competitions and benefit shows.  Her works are also on exhibit in galleries on both the east and west coasts and are part of private and corporate collections.
